The library has recently purchased some new books on selling craft, and all have been very highly reviewed. Whether you've been crafting for years, or are looking for how to begin, these books are a great place to start!
Kari Chapin describes it all in The Handmade Marketplace, from pricing to photography, and online sales to marketing. Faythe Levine writes that this is "a fantastic resource full of useful tips and guidelines from top DIY insiders" and a "must have for any maker's library."
Philip Kadubec, in Crafts and Craft Shows, helps specifically on good business practice for shows, dealing with customers, pricing, presentation, and wholesaling. He assists also with applying to shows and dealing with promoters, based on years of personal experience.
In The Savvy Crafter's Guide to Success, Sandra McCall draws on her own experience, and enlists other experts. She covers building and maintaining a craft business, teaching, writing for publication, selling your designs, and the overall business of crafts.
Nolo's The Craft Artist's Legal Guide has comprehensive coverage of all the major legal and tax considerations facing craft artists. Included is getting a design patent, copyright or license, pricing and selling, leasing studios, hiring workers and sales reps, insurance, business forms, and pricing and savings on taxes. Each chapter begins with an interview of a working craftsperson.
A weekly shout out to the printed word, From the Stacks highlights what's new and what's loved in the American Craft Council library.

Perhaps the library can send out a monthly update on recent/highlighted purchases/additions... That would be great!!! Thanks for this update!

Glad you enjoyed the update, Keelin. You're in luck! Every other week, Dulcey writes about what's new in the library. (Plus, on the in between weeks she interviews folks about their favorite books in the library!) You can find all the posts under the "From the Stacks" tag, or simply visit: bit.ly/ACCstacks
